Spotlight Idol is a showcase of J-pop, K-pop, and dance cover groups.

Are you a K-pop, J-pop, or Idol Dance enthusiast?! Want to show your skills at Pop Con YXE? Now is your chance to perform on our biggest stage!

Applications are now open to perform and claim your moment in the spotlight. Apply with a group or do a solo performance. Now, get ready to hit the stage!

A Few Details Before Applying

  • Dressing up is encouraged but not required!
  • Come ready to perform. Changerooms will not be provided.
  • You must have audio submitted in MP3 format by April 24th, 2026.
  • Participants MUST email a video of the choreography they are performing along with their music MP3 files to kolota@prairielandpark.com. If your choreography is deemed inappropriate for the event, you will be asked to change it.
  • Pre-registration is required. No day-of registrations will be accepted.
  • Be on time. Failing to show up to check-in will result in your performance being cancelled. No exceptions.
  • All participants require valid admission to Pop Con YXE on the day of their performance.
  • All participants are required to be registered individually or with a group By April 17th, 2026.
  • Spots are limited. Submitting an application does not guarantee a spot. You will be notified if you are approved for the show or if it is full. There will not be a waitlist. Applications are on a first come first serve – basis, pending on application approval.
  • This is a Non-competitive, all ages event. Any Participants 12-year-old and under MUST be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
  • J-pop, K-pop, and Idol cover groups allowed.
  • Individuals can perform in maximum of TWO performances, one solo and one group number.
  • Soloists may only perform up to two songs, Groups may also only perform a maximum of two songs. If you are both a soloist and in a group, you may only perform one song as a soloist on your own.
  • No song repeats between groups, and then soloists, songs are first come first serve for performers. If you choose the same song as someone else already confirmed, you will be asked to choose another song. (this means a group can do a song that a soloist did or vise versa- but two soloists or two groups cannot do the same song).
  • Dancing, (no singing)
  • J-pop, K-pop, Idol (Vocaloid, Project Sekai, etc) music as permitted by the event type you’re entering. (English cover of J-pop songs or J-pop covers of English songs are allowed)
  • Self-choreographed dances (MUST be emailed to kolota@prairielandpark.com prior to April 24th, 2026 as proof of choreography/appropriate choreography for the event)
  • Props (must still follow Pop Con YXE’s policies, not make a mess, and/or not be difficult to clean up).
  • The Pop Con YXE committee may make changes to any of the above without notice, or deem music/dance inappropriate for the selected rating of the event.
  • Performance times may not exceed 8 minutes for groups, or 5 minutes for soloists. If we receive a large amount of applicants, Pop Con YXE may lower these times to accommodate more performers.
  • Individuals or groups can submit a logo, picture or play a video to display on a screen, if sent by April 24th.
  • Performances are scheduled consecutively.
  • Individuals can perform one song per group.
  • The maximum duration of this event is 1.5 hours.
  • Event time is subject to change based on stage availability.
  • All participants require valid admission for the day of their performance, no exceptions.
  • Any changes to the event will be communicated via email.
  • Check-in is required on the day of the event. Check In will be in Hall C at 3:00p.m. – 3:30pm on Sunday, May 3rd, prior to the event.

     

  • Participants will have the opportunity to double-check audio for any errors during check-in.
  • No changes to setlist order or addition of songs will be accepted during check-in. However, you may request to drop song(s) or members during the check-in process.
  • Participants who fail to check in will lose the opportunity to perform. If something prevents you from attending the check-in time, please email kolota@prairielandpark.com as soon as you know, prior to the end of the check-in time. Emails received after check-in ends will not be considered.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Setlist Approval:

  • Your complete setlist must be submitted with your application.
  • If any song is deemed inappropriate, the Idol Festival coordinator will contact you to revise the setlist. A failure to provide an appropriate alternative may result in your application being rejected.

All-Ages Content Mandate

  • All performances must be strictly appropriate for a general, all-ages audience.
  • If a performance is deemed inappropriate during the event, the Idol Festival coordinator has the absolute discretion to cut the music and end the performance immediately. The group will be asked to leave the stage and the remainder of their setlist will be forfeit.

Mandatory Check-in:

  • All groups must check in between 3:00p.m. and 3:30p.m.
  • Groups and individuals that do not check in on time will not be permitted to perform.

Substance Policy

  • Consuming alcohol or drugs, or being intoxicated during any scheduled performance or activity is strictly prohibited. This includes check-in, pre-show meetings, and the performance block itself.
  • Any individual or group found violating this rule will be immediately disqualified from performing and may be subject to disciplinary action.

Confirmation Required:

  • We have limited number of spaces for this show. After applying, you will receive a confirmation email that you have been accepted to the show or that our program is currently full.
  • Groups may be subject to disciplinary action which can include: Being asked to leave the Pop Con YXE event and/or removal from Prairieland property and asked for contravening any article in these terms & conditions.

Prop Policy:

  • All props must comply with the general Pop Con YXE Props Policy.
  • Props must be easy to clean up. You are responsible for leaving the stage exactly as you found it.
  • Pop Con YXE reserves the right to reject the use of any prop at any time, without notice.
  • No confetti, sparklers, pyro, or any other special effects will be allowed.

Liability and Damages

  • You use props at your own risk. Pop Con YXE is not liable for any damage to your props or any injury caused by them.
  • Pop Con YXE will seek financial compensation for any damages your props cause to the stage, lighting, or any other festival equipment.

Submission Changes

  • Any changes to your application must be communicated to us before the deadline.
  • In a situation that prevents you from performing, you must contact us as soon as possible. Failure to do so may be treated as a “no-show” and disqualification from the event.
  • Prairieland reserves the right to approve, deny, reschedule, or cancel any performance at any time, for any reason.
